Bible Reading: 1 Corinthian 17: 1- 16
Imitate me, as I also imitate Christ. 1 Corinthians 11:1 CSB
Many would wonder why Paul said, “Be ye followers of me”. Can you follow your Pastor? The answer is yes. A pastor’s life should be an epistle to be read by many. He is not a perfect man. He is not God. He has his own mistakes and weaknesses. If you look at the things he did not do well you will hardly follow him. It is time we take our eyes away from the human aspect of a prophet and focus on the spiritual qualities he has, if not you will hate him for what he eats, how he dresses, and his grammatical errors. Paul said we should imitate him. To imitate is to follow or copy. Why should we imitate a Pastor? It is because he imitates Christ. Our focus is not looking at the prophet but Christ. In Paul’s letter to the Hebrews, he said, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of our faith. We should be an example to believers. People should read you and follow your steps. Your way of life, conduct, behavior, and physical appearance matters a lot to Christ and those who see you.
