Bible Reading: Romans 4:1-25
Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Romans 4:7
The subject of forgiveness of sin has been misunderstood by a lot of people. Many people go for confession every week thinking that if you confess your sins before a mortal man you will receive forgiveness. This is different. When you hurt somebody, you need to go to the person you hurt and ask for his/her forgiveness so you can live with a clear conscience. But when we sin against God you don’t have to meet anybody before you receive forgiveness. Some people feel that they cannot be forgiven because they’ve sinned so many times, this is untrue. Even if it’s the worst of all sinners, God will forgive. If you can come to God for forgiveness, he’ll forgive you, and will not condemn you any longer. When God forgives, he does not hold us. We have to humble ourselves before the Lord in repentance then he will forgive us. With this, the backslider has hope for forgiveness if they come to God in repentance.
